Acting positions within Schools of Distance Education and rural and remote schools is not an isolated problem. The increased instability Acting or temporary appointments, particularly in executive positions, bring to these schools grows increasingly worse as the tenure of these roles is extended, sometimes for years. An extended Acting Principal position brings instability to rural and remote schools, their community and the person undertaking this Acting role and undermines confidence in the role, the leadership of the school and the Department.
